Recent Accomplishments

Gateway Arts Center

  • 12 affordable, visual artist studios including ceramics, paper making, photography painting and mixed media. Studios range from 300-500sf.

  • The 39th Street Galley, 450sf gallery managed by the Gateway CDC

  • Anchor tenant MNCPPC Brentwood Art Exchange has a 2000sf gallery, offices and 900sf classroom

  • Second tenant is the Prince Georges County African American Museum and Cultural Center - Gallery 110. 700sf gallery with office.

EZ Storage Studio Project

  • 14 affordable, visual art studios including 5 storefront studios with another 4 to be built in 2011. Studios range from 300-500 sf. Painting, textile and mixed media artists.

Major Accomplishments

  • Produced the 7th Annual Gateway Arts District Open Studio Tour. 15 locations, 70 studios, 120 artists. 1,500 guests attended.

  • Produced “Welcome Packet for New Business Owners”

  • Hired new Executive Director, Michael Gumpert after national search

  • Co-Produced the “Better Block Project” – A commercial corridor visualization exercise culminating in the “Better Block Street Fair”

  • Submitted once-every-10-year application to State of Maryland for reauthorization of the Gateway Arts District
