fall into mount rainier:

mural unveiling & fashion show

Lab Residents work with the city of mount rainier economic development office to showcase the creative economy

In November, many of the the creative industries housed inside The Lab worked with the City of Mount Rainier’s Economic Development Office to create Fall Into Mount Rainier. The one-day showcase encapsulated two events: a mural unveiling on the Penske Truck Rental building and a fashion show that helped open one of the city’s newest businesses, ERA Wine Bar.

Lab and staff member, Rhett Butler of R. Butler & Associates facilitated the event hiring Prince George’s County tech vendors Imagine Sound and Roan Films, also a member of The Lab, for the production sound and videography respectively. Lab member Courtney Warren acted as a stage manager for both the mural unveiling as well.

Lab member and President of the DMV League of Artists, Keiona Clark orchestrated the mural which shows the iconic Mount Rainier trolley. Additionally, Lab residents, Bella of Belly The Brand and Yo Ziggy displayed their designs and modeled in the show which took place inside the ERA Wine Bar. Additionally, the Designers In Residence of DPARK 3311, including Maria Fenton of Emma Effa, Nya Harkless of Modiaa, and Dr. Dionne Clemons draped the runway with their respective designs.

Curated hors d’ouerves and wine pairings were distributed throughout the night by the ERA Wine Bar staff.

An amazing example of public meets private partnerships and an exploration of the creativity of The Lab, the City of Mount Rainier and the Gateway Arts District!
